Chandannagar bank employee jumps from apartment balcony in suspected suicide

Soumen Dey, a 39-year-old employee of the SBI branch in Chunchura Khadinamor, died after jumping from the eighth floor of a multi-storey residential complex on Rather Road in Chandannagar. Police have registered the case as a suspected suicide and have cordoned off the area for investigation. Local residents rushed to the scene immediately after hearing the commotion, but Dey was declared dead on the spot.

Soumen Dey lived with his second wife in the apartment. His ancestral home is in Vaidypota, Chandannagar. Sources confirmed that he had divorced his first wife approximately two years ago and remarried, after which he purchased the current flat to reside with his second spouse. On the day of the incident, his wife had left for Kolkata to take her father to a doctor. Before leaving, the couple had breakfast together.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and collecting statements from neighbors and family members. No further details regarding the cause or possible factors leading to the suspected suicide have been disclosed. Authorities continue to examine the scene and are conducting a formal inquiry into the matter.
